Bible Time

Samuel 13: Saul disobeys Samuel and the Lord- but who would think that making a sacrifice to the Lord would be going against him? When you are called to do something by the Lord- you better do it or else! But.... If you do something {even if it is good} for the Lord but against his instructions you might as well not do it at all- because going against the Lord, no matter how good the cause, is still sin.

Bible Time

Samuel 12: In this chapter Samuel says goodbye. He tells the people to witness against him if he has done wrong- they say he has not. Then he tells them of their history and the sins they have commited. Then he shows them the awesome power of God when he prays for rain and it happens just like that. God created the cosmos and he hears each and every one of our prayers. AMEN!!

Samuel 11

What is the proof that people need to believe in God? When Saul fought against the Ammonites- the Holy Spirit filled the Israelites to believe in Saul and to follow him and to eventually declare Saul as King. But in modern times even though we have the Bible to read and see what has happened which coincides with history. And the Holy Spirit fills us {when we let it} to be able to see and hear from God. But there are so many people who refuse to even acknowledge the possibility of or the reality of God.

Samuel 10: Saul is made King- I can imagine that from the swiftness of this kingship that Saul's head must be reeling. He went from a man looking for 3 lost donkey's to king of God's inheritance in a week or two. Him hiding in the baggage was very reasonable- he did not feel right for the part. But God knows what he is doing even if we humans do not.

Bible Time and 100th Post

Yea! This is my 100th post. I used to think that blogging was dumb- but then I started looking for ways to save money in our household by looking at others' blogs. Then a friend helped me start my own my 2 goals for a blog were 1. Share the gospel. And 2. keep our family in check on our new grocery budget by reporting to everyone on my blog. And so far since January- Now I have kept us at $300.00 or less each month which is really helping our overall budget.

Now on to Bible Time: Samuel 9:

In Samuel chapter 9 the Lord tells Samuel that Saul will come to him looking for donkey that he lost and cannot find- the Lord told Samuel when Saul comes that will be the man to rule and govern over Israel although Saul does not see himself as worthy to do so.

Bible Time

Today I am reading Samuel 8 which is when Israel asks for a king... Which is a really bad idea because a king will steal their sons and daughters and their fields and servants and will oppress them. But the part that really sticks out to me is how the Lord spoke to Samuel when he said that they were rejecting him as king like they had done the entire time since he took them out of Egypt. The words that he chose sounded like he was a human not God and sounded like he was sad that they had rejected him. And to tell the truth he is sad when we reject him as we do on almost a daily basis when we sin.

Bible Time

Since I did not read yesterday- I read Samuel 6 & 7 today.

This is the story about the ark of the Lord being returned to Israel. The Philistines returned trying to get rid of their curse and sent with it 5 gold tumors and 5 gold rats representing the 5 rulers that were in Philistine. Then the Philistines were going to attack the Israelites at Mizpah but Samuel cried out to the Lord and the Lord delivered the Israelites from the Philistines.

Bible Time

Today I read 1 Samuel Chapter 5

What a mighty God we have! To the Philistines who were being afflicted and killed because they took the ark. No wonder they wanted to give it back so much. And poor Dagon (yeah, right!) who had his feet and hands broken off and was put face down in worship. No one can compare to the awesome power of God!

Bible Time

Sorry it has been so long since I have posted. We decided to surprise my mom in GA for Easter and left in kind of a hurry. It's been tough getting back on schedule.

Samuel Chapter 4:

This chapter is about the Philistines and the Israelites fighting and the ark of the covenant being brought out to the battlegrounds. The Philistines won the battle and took the ark. Eli's two sons Hophni and Phineas died and when Eli received the news he died too. Also Phineas' wife went into preterm labor, gave birth to Ichabod, and died.

Samuel Chapter 3:

The Lord speaks to Samuel. It is so hard for us to hear God when he speaks to us, some of us never try to even listen. But God stands there calling our name wanting us to speak to him- and listen as well. What is God saying right now?

Samuel Chapter 2:

The Lord is so gracious- Hannah gave her first born son back to the Lord and the Lord gave her 5 more children to raise. The Lord is also righteous and just he said that Eli's line would be cut off and that all the people would die in the prime of life, and that Eli's two sons would die on the same day.

Samuel Chapter 1:

All I want to say is Thank you, God for my 2 wonderful children. Our children are not really ours God has loaned them to us to teach them His way and guide them down the path of life. My spiritual side knows this while my sinful human side says that I would literally die if my children were taken away from me. So Samuel's mother did a very brave thing by letting her little boy go back to the Lord voluntarily. She had more courage and strength than I will ever have.

Well Little Belle and the entire rest of the family are finally better. Thank you for sticking around on this little blog break. It has been a very long week trying to get everyone better.
